A Heavy Burden!

Numbers 11:10-15

What Will You Do?

Numbers 11:10-15

Moses heard the people of every family wailing, each at the entrance to his tent. The LORD became exceedingly angry, and Moses was troubled. He asked the LORD, "Why have you brought this trouble on your servant? What have I done to displease you that you put the burden of all these people on me? Did I conceive all these people? Did I give them birth? Why do you tell me to carry them in my arms, as a nurse carries an infant, to the land you promised on oath to their forefathers? Where can I get meat for all these people? They keep wailing to me, 'Give us meat to eat!' I cannot carry all these people by myself; the burden is too heavy for me. If this is how you are going to treat me, put me to death right now—if I have found favor in your eyes—and do not let me face my own ruin."

1 Kings 19:4

4But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness and came and sat down under a lone broom or juniper tree and asked that he might die. He said, It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life; for I am no better than my fathers.

Today’s Reflection: In the book that I am reading called “The Land Between” finding God in difficult transitions, the author (Pastor Jeff Manion) compares our journey to those in the bible & how they dealt with difficulties.

We can see how discouragement & hopelessness can cause a person to be burden down, wearied and beat up by the enemy. He talks about “the land between” where you will have to trust God to make it to your promise land. Our land between is actually preparation to go into the promise land. Moses cries out to God, in prayer, desperation and honesty. He says “I am not able to carry all these people alone, because the burden is too heavy for me! He then goes on to say that if this is what you want God, then it’s too much, I would rather you kill me, rather than fail in my efforts.

Today I want to ask you what heavy burden are you carrying? Perhaps you have been carrying it for a long time? If you were to say to God today “I am not able to carry (name your burden), this because it is too heavy for me! For each of us that burden will be different.

What is weighing you down? What prayer is it that there seems to be no answer to? What do you have on your mind constantly that perhaps is even stealing your joy? When we are being pressed on every side and we feel like we are about to collapse because the burden is so heavy, what will we do? Our situation, no matter how bleak it looks, does not determine our outcome. Moses became wearied down & burden and just became flat out honest with the Lord. It’s time to get honest with God! Its time to go to God with what is weighing you down and ask him for help. The Bible says to make your requests known to God. However, you must be willing to do what God tells you to do, or spend many years like the Israelites wondering around the desert.

Many churches today are asking for revival. However are they willing to do what God has told them to do? Or will they continue to do things their way and wander in a desert. God has given us instructions to go into all the world & preach the gospel. He didn’t say, call another meeting and lets vote on it. He didn’t say, go raise the money then go. Every time that God tells someone to do something in the bible he doesn’t move until they do their part. Elijah didn’t see the provision until he was willing to go to the town where the widow woman was. The woman with the issue of blood didn't get healed until she went to Jesus. Abraham was told to leave everything and he didn't even know where he was going! God will give you instructions as you step out & are obedient to His plan and His purpose. The first step is acknowledging God’s will & agreeing with the Lord. The next step is to follow through & do what he tells you to do. Those that are willing & obedient will eat the good of the land. The provision is in the vision. Make your vision for the kingdom of heaven, go after the harvest first and watch what God will do!
