Confidence in Man or in God?

Confidence to Accomplish His Will For Your life!

Psalm 57:1 BE MERCIFUL and gracious to me, O God, be merciful and gracious to me, for my soul takes refuge and finds shelter and confidence in You; yes, in the shadow of Your wings will I take refuge and be confident until calamities and destructive storms are passed.

Hebrews 10:35-36 Do not, therefore, fling away your fearless confidence, for it carries a great and glorious compensation of reward. 36 For you have need of steadfast patience and endurance, so that you may perform and fully accomplish the will of God, and thus receive and carry away [and enjoy to the full] what is promised.

Reflection: The word confidence is defined in the dictionary as full trust, belief in powers, trustworthiness or reliability of a person or thing? So the question I have for you is who or what do you put your confidence in? Have you ever heard someone say "I just don't have enough confidence to do that"! Or "I wish that I had her/his confidence"!

Perhaps if you asked that person how they acquired confidence to do what they are doing, they might tell you that they had to grow in that confidence. They had to be patient, steadfast and endure and overcome obstacles along the way. They might tell you that they were scared to death but they decided to step out of their comfort zone because they knew that it was God's will for their life. They would tell you that it was only because they put their confidence in God, did they succeed and overcome and accomplish what they had set out to do.

They might even tell you that they felt unsure, feeling their way and could only see one step at a time. They would tell you that it was a long journey of trusting and putting their faith in God to reach that place that God had called them to be. They could also probably tell you that they had many days of being discouraged and feeling hopeless before God's promise came to pass. But I can tell you from my own experience that regardless of how much the enemy has fought me, discouraged me and intimated me that I held on to the dream! Every step of the way I had to believe, knowing that the work that God had started in me he would be faithful to complete!

The enemy has a way of getting us to fling away our confidence. The bible tells us not to throw away our confidence, because it carries a great and glorious compensation of reward. However with this confidence well will have to learn to be steadfast, patient and endure. Why? so that we may perform and fully accomplish the will of God, then we will receive and carry away and enjoy what is promised. Don't throw away your confidence! Hold fast, be patient, endure every trial and believe that God will bring it to pass!
