Listening for His Voice!

Share

Can You Hear the Voice of God?

Deuteronomy 28:1 IF YOU will listen diligently to the voice of the Lord your God, being watchful to do all His commandments which I command you this day, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.

Matthew 7:24-25 So everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts upon them [obeying them] will be like a sensible (prudent, practical, wise) man who built his house upon the rock.25And the rain fell and the floods came and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.

Reflection: Have you ever wondered if you were hearing God's voice? Can you recognize God's voice when he calls to you? Have you ever been going about your day & suddenly you feel lead to turn left instead of right. Maybe you feel lead to give a gift to someone or maybe you feel an urgency in your sprit to go & spend some time with someone. When Jesus becomes our Lord & Savior the Holy Spirit becomes our internal or one might say eternal voice!

Deuteronomy tells us that you must listen for His voice and do all of which he commands you. In the book of Matthew we discoverer that when you hear His voice then you must act upon it. We must obey his voice and then we will be like a house that is built upon a rock. The known will of God is known by reading the bible. The unknown will of God, such as who should I marry, what city should I live in, or what am I called to do must be sought through prayer? By praying & seeking God for wisdom and allowing Him to guide us each step of the way, he will show us His will for our lives. God's will will never contradict His word.

So the next time you need wisdom, pray and seek God for wisdom. Stepping out & trying something new can be a bit intimidating. We might fear the unknown or wrestle with being comfortable & staying where we are. I've often heard it said like this "fear paralyzes and faith energizes"! The next time that you have an idea, take it to the Lord, spend some time in prayer & pray until you have a peace about it. As you put one foot in front of the other, God will give you confirmation after confirmation! Before you know it, you'll be walking on the water & you won't even notice that there are storms raging all around you. The safest place to be during the storms is in the center of God's will.
