Are you Running the Rat Race or the Heavenly Race?

Running Towards Jesus!

1 Corinthians 9:23-25 23And I do this for the sake of the good news (the Gospel), in order that I may become a participator in it and share in its [blessings along with you]. 24Do you not know that in a race all the runners compete, but [only] one receives the prize? So run [your race] that you may lay hold [of the prize] and make it yours. 25Now every athlete who goes into training conducts himself temperately and restricts himself in all things. They do it to win a wreath that will soon wither, but we [do it to receive a crown of eternal blessedness] that cannot wither.

Galatians 5:6-8 6For [if we are] in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith activated and energized and expressed and working through love. 7You were running the race nobly. Who has interfered in (hindered and stopped you from) your heeding and following the Truth? 8This [evil] persuasion is not from Him Who called you [Who invited you to freedom in Christ].

Reflection: Have ever run a race or competed in any kind of a competition? You probably have realized that there is a great deal of preparation before you run the race. When we get stuck in the rat race of life we will be bogged down with stress, doubt & unbelief!

The bible talks about an athlete & compares the training of an athlete to how we should conduct ourselves while running our heavenly race. Running your race does not mean that you have to hide who you are in Christ, while you are out in the world. Running your race while being in the world, is the way that you conduct yourself while around others. Sometimes your hardest test will be not to go along with the crowd. Sometimes it will mean that you walk away from something that God doesn’t want you involved in. Sometimes it will mean that even when you feel unfairly judged by others, that God will be watching to see if you will retaliate or you will love.

We make our choice when we are out in the world to blend in or stand out. I don’t know about you, but Jesus has transformed my life dramatically & I don’t intend to keep Him or what he has done for me a secret. Think about how God has transformed your life, now let God use you to help touch & change other people’s lives for eternity!
