What Kind of Assurance do you have in 2012?

Share

Faith is the Path that Leads to Freedom!

Hebrews 11: 1-2 NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, [a]the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].2For by [faith–[b]trust and holy fervor born of faith] the men of old had divine testimony borne to them and obtained a good report.

1 Peter 1:6-7 [You should] be exceedingly glad on this account, though now for a little while you may be distressed by trials and suffer temptations, 7So that [the genuineness] of your faith may be tested, [your faith] which is infinitely more precious than the perishable gold which is tested and purified by fire. [This proving of your faith is intended] to redound to [your] praise and glory and honor when Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) is revealed.

Reflection: What kind of assurance do you have in your life for 2012? The bible tells us that “faith” is the assurance, a title deed of the things we hope for. What does the word “assurance” mean? Assurance means; A positive declaration intended to give confidence; a promise. We have to start with the word positive, because if our declaration is not positive it cannot give us the intended confidence of the promise! Now let look at what a title deed is, a title deed a deed or document evidencing a person's legal right or title to property.

So now let’s put together assurance and title deed. A positive declaration intended to give confidence; a promise, a deed or document evidencing a person's legal right or title to property. Ok, now lets look at what 1 Peter 1:6-7 says about our faith. In first Peter we discover how our faith is tested. According to 1 Peter we may be distressed by trials & suffer temptations! Why will we be distressed by trials & suffer temptation? So that  [the genuineness] of your faith may be tested, [your faith] which is infinitely more precious than the perishable gold which is tested and purified by fire. We are tested and purified by the fiery trials and temptations that we will go through in our lives. If we never have a trial our faith cannot be tested & purfied by the fire. As we go through a trail of our faith, It makes us stronger to stand through any test, trial or temptation we will face as we walk our journey of faith!
