Taking a Step of Obedience!
Exodus 14:13-14 13 And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. 14 The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
Exodus 15-16 15 And the Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward. 16 But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.
Reflection: When the devil says check . . God says. . . Oh No You don’t.. Checkmate!
Have you ever set out to do something that God has told you to do & all hell seems to break loose on every side of you? Oh Yeah, I’m sure many of us have been there! When you decide in your heart that you are going after God’s heart (SOULS), the enemy is going to try everything he can to hinder or discourage you! After all you are stealing souls from him, when you preach the gospel, and bringing them into the kingdom of heaven! The bible tells us what to do when our mountains seem insurmountable, we are to speak to that mountain to be removed & cast itself into the sea!
Think about it, Moses leading the people out of Egypt & they come to the red sea! The red sea is an impossible situation that the enemy thought. . Ha I’ve got them now! Now, here comes Pharaoh with his mighty army barreling down the path & the people start to panic! (A strong leader can hear the voice of God & is willing to lead the people out of bondage, but the people must be willing to obey). But Moses says to the people “Don’t be afraid”! The enemy will always come with a spirit of fear to try to get you to panic or back off! The next thing Moses tells the people is "Stand still"! In other words, stop what you are doing & ask the Lord, "Lord I need help in this situation, show me what to do"! But it is the next verse that we read that we have to assume that Moses must have had a divine revelation of God’s word at that moment, because he actually prophesied what God was going to do next! He says that the Egyptians that you see today, you will see no more and that God is going to fight for us and we need to hold our peace (I’m paraphrasing). Could it be that Moses had so much faith in God that he knew that God would not lead them this far into the wilderness with a way out?
It is next that we hear the Lord speak to Moses & the confirmation of what Moses just spoke to the Israelites is about to come to pass! (Remember prophecy is always confirmation, not information). The Lord says to Moses “Why do you cry to me, tell the children of Israel to go forward"! (You will always have to take a step of faith in obedience towards God before he will give you the next step). Then He tells Moses what he didn't know and that is to lift up his rod (this is the rod that God hasd given to Moses) and stretch out his hand over the sea & divide it and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the mist of the sea!
Many times in God’s word he gives us instructions that to our heads might say. ."You want me to do what"? But hearing the voice of the Lord in this moment of decision was extremely important! Moses, could have looked at the red sea & felt defeated! Moses didn't know how God was going to do it, yet he had enough faith to speak it out and then see it came to pass! How important do you think it is in the very last days that we, as the BOC (Body of Christ) be able to hear the voice of the Lord to receive divine direction? Divine direction will come when we ask the Lord for help & listen for the still small voice of God, being the Holy Spirit! So the next time the enemy thinks that he has you in (check), open your mouth & declare and decree God’s word over your life, then tell the enemy . . .afraid not … check mate! Then move forward in what God has told you to do & know that God is fighting for you every step of the way! After all he has said, every place that the soul of your foot shall tread I WILL GIVE YOU!
