“The Twelve Spies Sent to Canaan”
Discouragement is a powerful tool that the enemy can use to hinder you from going forward. Has the enemy bombarded you with discouragement today? The Hebrew meaning of the word "discourage" is to hinder, hold back, forbid, disallow, restrain, frustrate. If the enemy can use every little thing to discourage you, he will start to make inroads into your life. He will eventually prevent you from going forward and completing your assignment.
Our assignment as followers of Jesus Christ is to glorify him by taking the gospel into the entire world. It is when we hook up to the corporate purpose for the church (preach the gospel), that God will reveal to us our individual purpose. The corporate purpose is always tied to our individual purpose.
In Number chapter 13 we discover that twelve spies were sent into the land of Canaan by Moses. Two (Caleb and Joshua) came back with a good reports. "The land we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land. 8If the LORD delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, "a land which flows with milk and honey.' 9Only do not rebel against the LORD, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the LORD is with us. Do not fear them."
Is the Body of Christ Committing Spiritual Suicide?
I want to talk to you about a spiritual movement that is going on in the world today. It is happening in our churches, government, schools and health care. It is attempting to indoctrinate the world. I want to specifically focus on the church. This movement must be successful in the church first, in order for it to spread. If you haven't noticed we are in the last days. God's plan is that the gospel be preached so that many can be saved. The devil agenda is to create deception and confusion. He will use fear, intimidation, lack and poverty to accomplish his will. He is preparing the world for his ruler, the anti-christ. He is also attempting to lead many astray in the Body of Christ . This movement is one way he is moving his agenda forward.
What is this spiritual movement? This movement seeks to change everything, including the gospel of Jesus Christ. It will change prayer by using contemplative prayer, or sometimes called prayer soaking or breath prayers. It will disguise itself in teaching, where the truth is twisted just enough to become a lie. It will disguise itself as worship, attaching a Christian label but no anointing will be present. It has many names, faces and associations. The one that seems to be most prominent is called Contemplative Spirituality.
“The Gospel Must Go Forth”
What kind of courage would it take to get out a boat and walk on the water? It sounds like an impossible task. However a fisherman by the name of Peter was willing to take God at his word. There was a great storm at sea that day. I’m sure that many were worried about their safety. Perhaps many thought that they would lose their lives. They were being tossed to and fro as the storm tried to overtake them. Peter saw Jesus through the storm. Peter wanted to know if it really was the Lord walking toward him. So Peter asked the question “"Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water." So then the Lord answered Peter back with one word “Come”.
Peter heard one word from the Lord and he stepped out in faith. However as Peter stepped out in faith the circumstances became more real to him. He noticed that the wind was boisterous and he became afraid. He looked at the water and he started sinking. As He started to sink he cried out for the Lord to save him. Jesus Immediately stretched out his hand and caught him. Then Jesus spoke to Peter and said “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
The boat is a representation of your place of safety. However, as a boat ventures out on the water the storms and the wind will try to change its course. If we stay in the boat the wind and the waves may over take us. However, if we get out of the boat we can then rise above the storm. How can we rise above the storm? We must put our trust in the Lord and not the circumstances.
The enemy has sought to rock your boat!
